Cosmetic Periodontal Surgery
Cosmetic periodontal procedures include gum grafting procedures as a way to cover sensitive and/or exposed root surfaces and to prevent future gum recession. However, if you are unhappy with the appearance of short teeth, this can also be improved by a combination of periodontal procedures and cosmetic/restorative dentistry by your dentist.
Although your teeth appear short, they may actually be the proper length. The teeth may be covered with excessive gum tissue. We can correct this by performing a periodontal surgery procedure, crown lengthening. During this procedure, excess gum and bone tissue are reshaped to expose more of the natural tooth. This can be done on multiple teeth to even your gum line, and to create a beautiful smile.
A high smile line resulting in an excessive appearance of gingival tissue can be corrected with a combination of crown lengthening and lip repositioning. This procedure simply releases some of the tissue pulling on the inside of the upper lip, preventing it from rising and exposing more gingival tissue.
